Day 7: Peek inside your pantry. Check expiration dates on all food. Wipe down shelves. Host a “fending” day (or week?) where your family fends for themselves, eating only food that is in the pantry (this can be a fun challenge in and of itself—stewed tomatoes, orzo, and granola bars for dinner?). Make a note of the staples you’re missing and donate canned goods that your family is unlikely to eat.
